Menaka (actress)
Padmavathy Iyengar, better known by her stage name, Menaka (born 27 August 1963), is an Indian actress and film producer.[1] She made her debut in the 1979 Tamil filmRamayi Vayasukku Vanthutta. In an acting career spanning from 1980 to 1987, Menaka appeared in over 125 films as a heroine, mostly in Malayalam. She also appeared in few Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Hindi films. She married film producer G. Suresh Kumar.[2] After 19 years, she made a comeback through the television serial Kaliveedu.[3] At 8th SIIMA, she received SIIMA Lifetime Achievement Award.[4]
Early life[edit]
Menaka, whose real name is Padmavathy, was born into a conservative TamilIyengarBrahmin family in Nagercoil, Kanyakumari district, India.[5] She was the only daughter among the four children of Rajagopal and Saroja. Both her parents were school teachers. Her mother Saroja taught at the Lourdes Girls' Higher Secondary School in Perambur, Madras.[6][7]

Menaka Suresh remembers her father, says, “If only there was a rewind button in our life”
Menaka Sureshshared that one of her colleagues send her the picture and that it was clicked in 1882, on the sets of the film ‘Oru Mottu Virinjappol’, and a few months after that her dad passed away. “I got this picture from one of my colleagues What a precious one!It was on the sets of Oru mottu virinchappol taken January 1982. I lost my APPA the same year September 19th at 7.30pm.”
Menaka recalled that she and her siblings were very young when their dad passed away. “I was only 18 years and my brothers were 16, 10 and 8 respectively. When I entered into the film industry he said "I will be with you" But within 3 years he left all of us! ”
