About Me
Introduction
Hello, I’m Michele di Erre, an Italian artist passionate about drawing, painting, and illustration. My artistic practice spans a wide range of mediums and techniques, including oil painting, acrylic, and watercolor, all created on various supports such as canvas, wood, and paper.
My creative process often begins with sketches—raw, unrefined, and sometimes imperfect—yet each one carries a precise idea that I work to bring to life. Using pencils (2B, 4B, or 9B) or charcoal (Pierre Noir), I create the foundation of my drawings, which are often reworked and refined until they reach a form I’m satisfied with. Many of my works are then inked with brushes or fine-line pens, adding intricate details to give the piece sophistication and depth. These inked pieces often serve as prototypes for black-and-white prints or standalone drawings.
Some of my works evolve into fully realized pieces with watercolor or are expanded into larger formats, where I take the design onto canvas or other materials and finish them with oil paint.
